Can you imagine a life without computers in the 21st century?! I certainly couldn’t until I visited Bamnoli. Well I agree that all of us know our rural India is still far behind in terms of modernization, but it is a different experience to actually witness it. And I was enlightened with this experience by being a part of the Nliten Group!
It is in human nature to desire for things that one does not get easily. How else would you expect kids to attend schools on Sundays? Students from the Bamnoli English School walk 5-7 kms, most of them barefooted, to study Computers, Mathematics and English on Sundays! Inspiration personified! And though I have been to the school only twice, I was amazed to find that these kids, living in the remote interiors with little/no amenities are as smart and zealous as their urban counterparts.
The mission of our Nliten group is to not only provide these students with quality education but to work towards the overall development of the school. Apart from teaching, the projects undertaken by us are building toilet blocks, having a routine medical check up of all the
students, providing the school with sports equipments, setting up a library, donating cupboard. Projects we wish to undertake are setting up video conferencing facilities to have teaching sessions more often, providing the students with footwear and a nutritious food item such as rajgira ladu, building a fully equipped science laboratory, paying the fees of the passed-out students for MS-CIT course.
The specialty of our team is that we have volunteers with perhaps the widest age group (ranging from class 8th students to working class elders)! It is wonderful to see the awareness and the willingness to work for a good cause in our volunteers from class 8th. Each one of us is very proud to be a part of this initiative which helps us execute our social responsibility and instills a mental satisfaction of having done some good work.
